马上申请

“I liked the small class size 和 science programs offered at Carthage. When I was touring the school, I got to sit in on a 物理 class, 和 I liked it.”

教师 mentors

“My 化学 professor, Christine Blaine, gave me the idea to double major in 物理 和 化学 和 helped me plan out a schedule that fulfills all the requirements 和 still allows me to graduate in four years. My 法国 professor, 帕斯卡Rollet, encouraged me to add on the 法国 minor, which I ended up really enjoying.

“My professors also wrote letters of recommendation for me when I was applying for summer research programs. I ended up participating in two different REUs. One REU was on glass conductivity at Coe College; the other was about pump-probe spectroscopy on topological insulators at the University of California, 戴维斯. In addition to doing something I loved, I got to work on my laboratory skills 和 explore different areas of research.”

Favorite class

“It’s really difficult to choose a favorite class because I’ve taken a lot of good ones! I liked Physical Chemistry because I got to combine concepts from both 物理 和 化学 to solve problems. Another great class that I took was Experimental 物理, which I took over j项. I enjoyed the h和s-on experiments, 和 I liked the people I worked with in the class.”

艰难的类

“My most difficult class was probably Quantum Mechanics. It definitely involved a different way of thinking than most of my previous 物理 classes. Even though it was very challenging, I enjoyed the class a lot 和 was surprised by how much I learned.”

Campus involvement

“I’m a member of the Society of 物理 StudentsCarthage Tea Club, 和 I am the treasurer of 化学俱乐部. The clubs on campus have really helped me get to know my peers, 和 I like spending time with people who share a common interests with me.”

Internships or campus employment

“我开始 辅导 法国 my junior year, 和 I loved it. I enjoyed sharing my interest in the 法国 language 和 helping my peers succeed. Tutoring 法国 motivated me to practice my 法国 more 和 to think more about the grammar concepts so that I could explain them clearly to other students. I loved the 辅导 job so much that I started 辅导 物理 和 organic 化学 my senior year, along with continuing my job as a 法国 tutor.”

Favorite spot on campus

“I really like the Hedberg Library! I also spend a lot of time in the 大卫. Straz小. Center, which has a lot of really nice study spots.”

Favorite memory

“Some of my favorite moments at Carthage are the simplest ones. I love studying or grabbing coffee with friends 和 doing activities with the clubs that I’m involved in.”

Biggest surprise

“I’m definitely surprised by how much I learned 和 what I’ve been able to do. I don’t think I would have believed I could do the 物理 和 化学 double major 和 法国 minor when I first came to Carthage, so I’m really glad that my professors encouraged me to do the double major 和 minor. I’ve also been surprised by how much I enjoy my classes 和 on-campus jobs.”

Advice for other students in your major?

“My advice is to be passionate about what you’re learning 和 challenge yourself.”
